Today I went to this little café on a summer island on the west coast of Norway. The man who worked there had been working there ever since he retired, for 22 years. He’d been collecting art to cover these walls and he’d been selling coffee and waffles to collect money to help build the house of a family he knew in Kosovo. He told me that the red stickers you can see on the world map were put on there by visitors from all over the world, marking their home country. Together they all bought enough coffee and waffles to help his good friends in Kosovo so they needn’t be homeless.
